Police finally arrest Gunmen who killed Nollywood Actor, Clem Onyeka (PICTURED)

 

The Delta State Police Command on Saturday paraded over 15 armed robbery and kidnap suspects including a robbery gang which had caused the death of popular Nollywood actor, Clems Onyeka. Addressing journalists at its end of month press conference at the Police Headquarters in Asaba, the new Commissioner of Police, CP Alkali Baba Usman, pointed out that the command is out to ensure a drastic reduction of crime in all parts of the state. He reflected on some the successes recorded in the month under review. Notable among them was the arrest of an armed robbery gang that attacked a bullion van on DBS Road, Asaba which led to the death of Clems Onyeka on October 4. The Dragon team recovered two AK 47 rifle magazines containing 56 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition from them. There was also the rescue of a kidnap victim, one Abemu Gabriel, a teacher attached to Oruodo Primary School in Ethiope East Local Government Council, who was abducted on October 5. The Police patrol team caught up with the hoodlums who kidnapped him at Utiuyo village in Okpara and in an ensuing gun battle which left some the criminals
wounded, and one dead, the victim was rescued unhurt. There was also the arrest of car snatchers with a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number Delta KLK 16 XA which was snatched at Bright Hope Street, Airport Road, Warri. The Police arrested two suspects, one Igho Okiemute and Onyemone Egiliga, while others escaped with the bus which was later recovered at Isagba Road junction along Airport Road. Recovered arms and ammunition put on display included locally made single barrel guns, live cartridges, pump action rifle, AK 47 rifle magazines, English made double barrel gun, cutlasses, handsets, ATM cards, jewellery and different vehicles.
